Tenaciously Teal’s founder, Tarah Warren, was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer in the fall of 2012. Though filled with the determination to fight, she soon began to realize just how much strength it would take to maintain the tenacity to overcome a cancer diagnosis.
Tenaciously Teal (T. Teal) is a non-profit dedicated to supporting cancer fighters and their families throughout cancer treatment by providing encouragement, support, and Cancer Care Packs filled with helpful items for cancer fighters. T. Teal delivers over 300 Cancer Care Packs each month to treatment centers across Oklahoma, and mails care packs nationwide upon request. T. Teal provides Gas/Grocery card assistance to fighters in need, and also offers a concierge-style Brave Shave & Empowerment Shoots for women facing hair loss from cancer treatment.
OKC Thunder games were an escape from treatment for Tarah. When she attended them, Tarah wanted to inspire women to not worry about their appearance and be brave. The night before a cancer treatment, she brought a sign with her that read “Tomorrow I Have Chemo but Tonight I’m Thundering Up”, which was featured on the big screen to loud applause. The sign led to a partnership with the Thunder organization, called Cancer Can’t Steal My Thunder. In addition, T. Teal has worked with the OKC Thunder Girls on a recent Care Pack Party, and taken them on Care Pack Runs to surprise patients receiving treatment.
